Terms for the Mac app

What a license key buys, what it does not, and whose terms travel with the models. Written for PocketWebTools for Mac; the website's tools are free and need no terms beyond the privacy page.

What you are buying

A license key for PocketWebTools for Mac. The app is a free download and needs an active key to run: the key unlocks every tool and every model in it, and every future version of the app at no extra cost. After activation the app works offline for as long as you like; it re-checks the key only while your Mac is online.

One key activates up to 3 Macs at a time. You can deactivate a Mac from inside the app or from your purchase page to free a slot for another one. The key is for you (or for the organisation that bought it); please do not publish or resell it.

Who you are buying from

PocketWebTools is an independent software project, not a company with a support desk. support@pocketweb.tools reaches the person who writes the app, and that is who answers a refund request.

The sale itself is made by Polar, as merchant of record. Polar is the legal seller, the name on your statement, and the party that collects and remits VAT or sales tax, under their own terms. What this page gives you is the licence to use the app.

Free lifetime updates

Every future version of the app, including new models and new tools, is included in the price, with no renewal and no subscription. This is a promise about price, not about timing: we do not commit to a release schedule, and the changelog is the public record of what has actually shipped.

Payment and refunds

If the app is not for you, email support@pocketweb.tools from the address you bought with, within 14 days of the purchase, and we refund the full amount through Polar. No questions asked. Refunds are issued from our side, not from a button in the customer portal, which is why the instruction is to email us.

Once a refund goes through, the key stops working within about a day, and the app locks on the Macs it was activated on.

A purchase uses one discount. Launch pricing and discount codes do not stack, and a discount does not apply to an order that was already paid.

The models are other people's work

The app downloads open-weight models published by other people, and it only ships models whose licenses allow redistribution and commercial use. Every license text is inside the app (License screen) and on this site.

Using those models means accepting their terms as well as these. Three that ask for something specific:

  • NVIDIA's Open Model License (the speaker-labels model): among other things it requires that you comply with trade-control and export laws, that you not use the model to violate anyone's rights, and that you not use NVIDIA's names or marks to endorse what you build.
  • Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 (Parakeet, two of the image upscalers): credit the original authors when you redistribute the model or a derivative of it.
  • The caption typefaces Clip burns into videos are under the SIL Open Font License, which allows commercial use and asks that the fonts themselves not be sold on their own.

What you make with it

Yours. We claim no rights over anything you produce with the app, and we add no restrictions of our own beyond the model licenses above. We never see it in any case: nothing you process leaves your Mac.

You are responsible for what you feed it and what you publish: consent for a voice you clone, the rights to a video you cut, and the law where you are.

What the app does not promise

AI models make mistakes. Transcripts contain errors, extracted text can be wrong, a cutout can cut the wrong thing, and a chat model can state something false with confidence. Check anything that matters before relying on it. The app is a tool, not an authority, and it is not a substitute for professional advice.

The app and the models are provided as they are, without warranties of any kind, to the extent the law where you live allows that. Nothing here takes away the statutory rights a consumer has, including your right to a working product.

Ending it

You can stop using the app at any time and delete it. We can end a license if it is being resold, published, or used to work around the device limit; if we do, we refund the unused portion unless the key was obtained fraudulently.

Changes and contact

These terms are governed by the laws of India, and a dispute that email cannot settle belongs to the courts there. If you are buying as a consumer, the consumer protection law where you live still applies in full: nothing on this page takes away a right that law gives you, including your right to a working product and to whatever refund or repair it guarantees.

If these terms change, the date at the top changes with them, and a change never applies retroactively to a purchase already made. Questions: support@pocketweb.tools.
