JPEG for photos. PNG for logos, text and transparency.
Your photo is never uploaded. The crop and the resize happen inside this browser tab, so nothing is sent to a server, nothing is stored, and nothing is shared. Free, unlimited, no signup, no watermark.
Pick the platform, get the exact pixels
Every platform wants a particular shape and a particular size, and every one of them crops or blurs an upload that does not match. These pages answer "what size is a WhatsApp DP" or "what size is a YouTube thumbnail" in the first line, then resize your photo to exactly that on your own device.

Crop to fill or pad to fit
A photo that is the wrong shape can lose its edges or keep them with a border; those are the only two options that do not distort it. Crop to fill trims, with a choice of which side to keep so a face near the top of a portrait survives a square crop. Pad to fit scales the whole image into the frame and fills the rest with white, black or transparent pixels. Both produce the exact dimensions the platform asks for.
Small sources are enlarged when they have to be, and the result row says so. For a sharper enlargement, the AI image upscaler rebuilds detail on your device first. For a file-size limit in kilobytes rather than a pixel size, the image compressor is the right tool.
Frequently asked questions
- What does 'exact size' mean here?
- The file you download has precisely the pixel dimensions shown on the row, for example 1280 by 720, not 'up to' or 'about'. When the source is a different shape it is cropped to the target ratio at the position you choose, or padded with a colour so nothing is trimmed. It is never stretched.
- Which page should I use?
- The one named after where the image is going: WhatsApp DP, YouTube thumbnail, Instagram post, LinkedIn banner, 4x6 print, X header or Facebook profile. Each one lists that platform's current sizes and applies its file-size limit where there is one. For a square with any side length, use the Square 1:1 page or the tool on this page.
- Are the sizes up to date?
- They were checked against the platforms' own guidance and the 2026 size guides from Hootsuite, Buffer and SocialBee in August 2026. Platforms do change specs; each page states the numbers in the first paragraph so you can compare them with the platform's help page if in doubt.
- Are my photos uploaded?
- No. Every crop, pad and encode runs in your browser. Nothing is sent to a server, nothing is stored, and there is no account, watermark or limit.
